Kerala human sacrifice case: They possibly ate victims flesh, say cops

"There's a possibility that the accused ate parts of body after killing the victims. It is being investigated, but not confirmed yet. Prime accused Shafi is a pervert. We're investigating whether there are more accused and if more such cases happened," ANI quoted him in a tweet.

The Kochi City Police Commissioner said that they have recovered all parts of the bodies of the two women who were killed. Some parts of the body of one of the victim women were recovered from three pits where they were buried, he pointed out.

"We didn't find anything earlier when we questioned Shafi, the prime accused. Scientific investigation led us to Pathanamthitta. Shafi is the main conspirator and a pervert, we got to know while investigating," he added.

The cops are also investigating if any sexual exploitation has been done by the prime accused Shafi, who has eight cases registered for various offences apart from this human sacrifice ritual case, Kochi DCP S Sasidharan, chief investigator of Kerala 'human sacrifice' case, said.

On Tuesday night, senior IPS officer R Nishanthini, who gave lead to the exhumation procedures at the couple's house in Elanthoor village in Pathanamthitta, where the bodies of the victims were buried after being chopped in pieces, said prima facie the crime was committed to settle the financial issues of the couple and to bring prosperity in their life, PTI reported.

As per the primary assumption, the Shafi had used a fake ID to contact the couple. According to police, the two women, who made a living selling lottery tickets on the streets here, were 'sacrificed' by the accused to resolve the financial problems of the couple.

Meanwhile, the three accused in the case have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody till October 26.

Mohammed Shafi alias Rasheed is the first accused, Bhagaval Singh is the second and his wife Laila has been were listed as the third accused.
