Kerala: Death toll in Kattipara landslide rises to 8
Eight people have been killed in the flash floods and landslide at Kattipara, Thamarassery in Kozhikode. Heavy rains triggered flash floods and landslides in several places in rural Kozhikode. A red alert has also been issued in Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasargod and Palakkad.

The Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the chief secretary and district collectors for immediate action. Search and rescue operation is underway, as per a report by news agency ANI. Among the ones who were killed, a nine-year-old child also died, as per a report by ANI.
The deceased nine-year-old was identified as Dilna. It is learnt that the girl was trapped inside the house.
There has been massive flooding in Kattipara in Kozhikode district. The floods have triggered multiple landslides in the nearby areas.
Schools have been shut in many districts of northern Kerala.
