Kerala CPI(M) leader names gangrape victim

The National Commission for Women registered a suo-moto case against CPI(M)'s Thrissur district secretary Radhakrishnan on Saturday. The left party leader had brazenly named the 32-year-old gangarape victim on Friday while talking to the media.

Talking to the media K Radhakrishnan named the victim and said that vested interests were behind the allegations being made by the woman and her husband.

When cautioned by the media about naming the victim, the leader allegedly asked why the complainant's name shouldn't be revealed when accused, Jayanthan's, name was being disclosed.

Kerala's BJP unit too has filed a complaint against the CPI(M) leader for naming the victim. BJP's State President in Kerala, Kummanam Rajashekharan has filed a complaint with DGP Loknath Behera against Radhakrishnan's statement.

The 32-year-old woman had recently revealed that she was gangraped by 4 men in 2014 and had shared the humiliating experience she had with the police when she decided to file a case.
