Kerala: 5 Members Of A Family Die In Car-Lorry Accident

In a tragic road accident, on Monday night, five members of a family lost their lives after their speeding car crashed with a Lorry. According to the reports, the saddening accident happened in the Kannur area of Kerala.

Soon after the accident, bypassers gathered near the spot and informed police about the unfortunate incident. Reacting swiftly, police along with an ambulance and firefighters reached the accident spot to rescue the victims. However, they found four out of five dead at the spot following the heavily impacted accident.

Sharing details about the accident, a police official told the media that the family was travelling from Thalassery to Kasaragod when their car collided with a lorry transporting gas cylinders. Four people died on the spot, while a nine-year-old child succumbed later at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.

Later, the police identified the deceased as KN Padmakumar (59), Choorikkatt Sudhakaran (52), Kozhummal Krishnan (65), Ajitha (35), and Akash (9).

He added that the driver of the lorry has also sustained injuries in the accident.

The reports said Sudhakaran and other members of his family were returning home after meeting their son Saurav, who is pursuing CA and lives in a hostel in Kozhikode.

Reportedly, the police has arrested the driver after registering a case and has also seized the lorry. Investigation is underway in the matter.
