Dalit solidarity: Rohith Vemula's mother stands by Jisha's kin
Perumbavoor (Kerala), May 10: Radhika Vemula, mother of Rohith Vemula, a Dalit scholar in Hyderabad University who committed suicide in January this year, sparking off a controversy at the national stage, said the tears of the mother of Jisha, a Dalit woman who was raped and murdered here last month, are those of all Dalit mothers of the nation. Radhika and her son came to meet Rajeshwari, Jisha's mother, in the hospital where the latter was admitted after receiving a major shock by the death of her daughter. She spent 15 minutes in the hospital with the victim's mother and sister. On the occasion, Radhika said attacks on Dalits were increasing across the country and committed her support for justice to Jisha. [Parties using Jisha's murder to win Kerala election]
She then visited the Left protestors to express solidarity with them.
Meanwhile, sources in Ambedkar Students' Union said a campaign seeking justice for Jisha would be launched in Hyderabad soon.
