Washington, Sep 7 - In a significant breakthrough, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has dismantled a violent crime syndicate involved in armed robberies targeting Indian jewellery stores across several US States. Over a dozen members of this gang have been arrested for their alleged involvement in these crimes.

FBI Busts Violent Crime Ring Targeting Indian Jewellery Stores

The FBI's operation led to the arrest of 16 members from this Washington DC-based gang. The crime spree spanned over a year, from January 2022 to January 2023. The targeted establishments were predominantly Indian and South Asian jewellery stores located on the East Coast, including states like New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Florida and Pennsylvania. Eight arrests were made just this week.

A Conspiracy to Engage in Violent Robbery Spree

"This indictment alleges a conspiracy to engage in a violent armed robbery spree involving commercial establishments throughout the Eastern Seaboard," said US Attorney Matthew M. Graves while detailing about the case. One of the defendants is also charged with conspiracy to commit carjacking as part of this robbery series.
