Rajnath Singh to take aerial survey in flood-hit J&K today

Singh will be assisted by Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh, Secretary (Border Management) Snehlata Kumar and Additional Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The home minister will arrive in Srinagar on Saturday morning.
Singh is also set to hold a review meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and state government officials. The minister would reach Jammu after undertaking the survey and meet representatives of the state government on the flood situation.
Flood situation has worsened in the last two days in Jammu and Kashmir and several rivers were flowing above the danger mark.
Heavy flood was reported in Tawi River in the state and the Jammu-Udhampur-Katra railway link was stopped because of the flood situation. Six persons were rescued from the flooded Tawi River, said TV reports.
Meteorological officials have, meanwhile, predicted hope saying the rain could end on Saturday and fair weather was expected in the coming week.
