Over 18000 Kashmiri Pandits entitled to vote in Baramulla LS polls

Jammu, May 6: Over 18000 Kashmiri Pandit voters are registered for voting in Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, which goes to polls on Wednesday.

As many as 18, 257 belonging to KP migrant community are registered for exercising their right of franchise out of Kashmir valley for Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, which goes to polls on May 7, J&K Election department officials said today.

As per the data issued by ECI, highest number of 8468 KP voters are registered for Kupwara district followed by 8307 KP voters for Baramulla district and 1482 for Bandipora district.

A total number of 6187 migrants have opted to cast their vote out of 18,257 registered displaced voters in Baramulla Parliamentary constituency, they said.

The election authorities have received M Forms of 6187 migrant voters who can cast their vote in May 7 elections.

There are 11,89,120 voters, who will decide the fate of 15 candidates including former Deputy Chief and PDP candidate Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and present MP and Congress-NC candidate Sharief-Udin-Shariek and present MLA Engineer Rasheed with direct contest between NC and PDP candidates.

As per the notification of Election Commission of India (ECI) 18 special polling station has been setup for KP migrant voters in Jammu, Udhampur and Delhi for voting. While Jammu has the largest number of 13 polling stations setup by EC for voting for KP voters, it is followed by four in Delhi and one in Udhampur.
