J&K poll: Motor rally organised in Rajouri to spread voting awareness
Rajouri (Jammu & Kashmir), Nov 20: A motor rally was organised by Rajouri district election authorities to encourage people to participate in the assembly election here scheduled on December 20, the final of the five-phase assembly election starting November 25. Around 200 vehicles took party in the rally under the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). The rally began at the new bus-stand located near Salani Bridge.

It was flagged off by District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Kumar Singh and he was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Saleem Malik, SVEEP's district nodal officer.
The participants in the rally took different routes of the district, namely, Thanamandi, Darhal, Kotranka-Budhal, Nowshera and Manjakote, carrying and spreading the message for voting. Light motor vehicles including, two wheelers were sent to inter-town routes, including Gujjar Mandi and old bus stand. The vehicles carried banners and pamphlets to educate people about positive aspects of voting.
Addressing a gathering during flagging off the motor rally, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri JK Singh said more such programmes will be held in the days to come to raise voting awareness. He also asked those present in the rally to act as ambassadors for spreading awareness among the masses to participate more in the polling.
Other top officials in Rajouri including Additional SP, chief medical officer and others were also present at the flagging off ceremony.
A similar programme was held in Kalakote sub-division which was presided over by the sub-divisional magistrate of Kalakote. The programme saw a big participation.
An awareness programme under SVEEP was also held at Degree College in Thanna Mandi.
Results of Jammu and Kashmir election will be declared along with that of Jharkhand on December 20.
