J&K assembly elections: Signature campaign for young voters launched

Srinagar, Nov 21: Taking a further leap in continuation of the targeted Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) efforts in Reasi, District SVEEP Team launched a massive signature campaign in order to create awareness among the young and newly registered voters in General Zorawar Singh memorial College, Reasi.

The Campaign was Launched by Prof. Kaushal Samotra, Principal General Zorawar Singh Memorial College Reasi in presence of Dr. Pritam Lal Thapa, Nodal Officer-SVEEP and Dr. Rajesh Sharma (Asst. Prof.) Coordinator NSS along with students of the college.

Youth roped in J&K election campaigns

The campaign is aimed at ensuring the participation of the young and new voters in the General Assembly Elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kaushal Samotra highlighted the importance of right of Franchise as well as ethical and informed voting practices.

She requested the students to act as ambassadors and spread the message among masses so as to achieve greater participation of the voters to enhance the voter turnover in the ensuing General Elections to the State Assembly-2014.

A pledge on electoral participation and ethical voting was also administered on the occasion in which all the Students as well as faculty members took an oath to cast their vote on Dec 2nd.
