Adityanath Champions Sports as Vital for Health and Future Development
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the dual benefits of sports, highlighting its role in maintaining personal health and shaping the future through supportive government policies. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the state-level Senior Prize Money Men's Wrestling Championship at Gorakhnath Temple Mela Ground, he underscored the significance of sports in the state.

The chief minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts in creating a conducive environment for sports in India. "Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an excellent environment for sports has been created in the country. Our athletes are taking sports to new heights and the government's aim is to support sports activities in every possible way," Adityanath said.
Government Support for Athletes
Adityanath highlighted that the state government is providing large-scale employment opportunities in the Uttar Pradesh Police and other departments to athletes who win medals at global and national levels. He mentioned that the government is not only enhancing sports infrastructure but also offering players rewards, appointments, and substantial financial assistance to encourage them.
Referring to recent achievements, Adityanath noted Neeraj Chopra's silver medal in javelin throw at the Paris Olympics and the Indian hockey team's Olympic medal as significant accomplishments. He added that Lalit Upadhyay, an Olympic hockey player from Uttar Pradesh, has been appointed as a Deputy SP in the Uttar Pradesh Police due to his outstanding performance.
Honouring Achievements
The chief minister also mentioned that Rajkumar from Uttar Pradesh played a crucial role in defeating Spain in this year's Olympics. The Uttar Pradesh government had previously honoured the Indian hockey team, which won a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, during a ceremony in Lucknow.
Adityanath extended his greetings on Nag Panchami and the centenary celebration of the Kakori Train Action. He noted that it was fortunate these events coincided on the same day. Paying tribute to heroes like Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Rajendra Nath Lahiri, and Thakur Roshan Singh, he said the centenary celebration aims to express gratitude towards these martyrs while channeling youth talent and energy for societal and national benefit.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to encourage athletes, Adityanath stated that athletes in Uttar Pradesh are being provided with respectable government jobs. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support sports activities and ensure athletes receive due recognition and opportunities.
The chief minister's remarks reflect a comprehensive approach towards promoting sports and recognising athletic achievements at both state and national levels.
