The Indian men's and women's teams have advanced to the finals of the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup. The women's team displayed strategic brilliance, defeating South Africa 66-16 in the semifinals. Meanwhile, the men's team also secured their place in the final with a 62-42 win over South Africa. Both teams are now poised for their respective final matches.

Indian Teams Reach Kho Kho World Cup Finals

The women's team started strong with Chaithra B's Dream Run, even after Nazia Bibi and Nirmala Bhati were caught. She scored five points before being tagged by Sinethemba Mosia from South Africa. This performance brought them close to South Africa's eight points at the end of Turn 1, setting a solid foundation for the match.

Indian Women Set Up Final Clash with Nepal

In Turn 2, Reshma led the Indian women to score crucial points against South Africa, ending with a score of 33-10 in their favour. The Indian team's tactical play was evident as they outperformed their opponents in both attack and defence. This set up an exciting final clash against Nepal, who defeated Uganda 89-18 in their semifinal.

During Turn 3, Vaishnavi Powar, Nasreen Shaikh, and Bhilardevi extended the lead with a five-minute Dream Run. Their efforts brought the score to 38-16, providing a strong platform for the final seven minutes of their semifinal match. The South African team's longest batch in Turn 4 lasted only one minute and 45 seconds, sealing India's place in the final.

Indian Men Overcome South African Challenge

The Indian men's team faced a tough challenge from South Africa but emerged victorious. Initially, Pratik Waikar and Aditya Ganpule were prevented from achieving a Dream Run due to strong defence by South Africa's Wazir. However, Aniket Pote managed to extend his batch to two minutes and 38 seconds during Turn 1, as South Africa scored 18 points.

In Turn 2, Nikhil B led an aggressive Indian comeback. Despite trailing with just 14 points against South Africa's 20, Aditya Ganpule and Gowtham M's expansive play brought India back into contention. By the end of Turn 2, India had narrowed the gap to 24-20.

Turn 3 saw Khozi from South Africa posing a significant threat to India's defenders. He ensured that India was ALL OUT within two minutes, equalising the score. However, Ramji Kashyap, Pabani Sabar, and Suyash Gargate improved their time to two minutes and 30 seconds for batch two as South Africa increased their lead to 38 points.

As Turn 3 concluded with a score of 42-28 in favour of South Africa, India needed a strong performance in Turn 4. Akash Kumar delivered by tagging Khoza and Mehul early on. With five minutes and ten seconds left on the clock, India was just four points behind.

The skipper and Wazir Pratik Waikar then executed an exceptional sky dive to tag Khoza. Mehul's subsequent move propelled India ahead of their opponents, securing their spot in the final.

Both Indian teams have shown remarkable skill and determination throughout the tournament. They are now set for thrilling final matches against formidable opponents.
