Who Is Suyash Sharma? RCB’s Young Spinner Earns Praise with Stellar IPL 2025 Performances
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leg-spinner Suyash Sharma delivered a crucial blow in the IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 by dismissing Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for 26 runs.
The match, being held in Mullanpur on Thursday, May 29, saw Stoinis fall in the 11th over while attempting to slog a wrong'un to the leg side, only to have his leg stump rattled. This marked Sharma's third wicket of the innings, having earlier removed Shashank Singh for 3 and impact substitute Musheer Khan for a duck.

The dismissal deepened PBKS' woes, as they were relying on Stoinis to anchor the innings and steer them to a defendable total. Notably, this marks Punjab Kings' first playoff appearance since 2014 - the same year they reached the final and finished as runners-up to Kolkata Knight Riders.
Who Is Suyash Sharma?
Suyash Sharma, the promising young leg-spinner, is making waves in Indian cricket with his impressive performances and growing reputation in the IPL. Born on May 15, 2003, in Bhajanpura, Delhi, Suyash has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting bowling prospects in the country.
Early Career and Playing Style
Suyash Sharma burst onto the scene ahead of IPL 2023, making his debut at just 19 years old. Despite not having played First-Class or List A cricket, he made a name for himself through youth-level matches for Delhi and U-25 competitions. Standing at 5'10" and weighing around 65 kg, Suyash is a right-handed lower-order batsman but is primarily recognised for his leg-spin bowling.
His deceptive action and clever variations have made him a tough challenge for batters. In his debut season with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2023, he impressed immediately, claiming 3/30 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
IPL Journey and Recent Performances
Suyash has played 26 IPL matches so far, taking 18 wickets, an impressive feat for a newcomer.
In the 2025 IPL mega auction, Suyash became the most expensive spinner, attracting competitive bids from top franchises. Delhi Capitals started the bidding, followed by Mumbai Indians, but it was RCB that ultimately won the auction, acquiring Suyash's services for Rs 2.60 crore.
Impact on the Field
IPL 2025 Qualifier 1
RCB's captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to field in a recent match against Punjab Kings. The decision immediately paid off as pacer Yash Dayal dismissed opener Priyansh Arya early. Bhuvneshwar Kumar followed up by removing Prabhsimran Singh.
Suyash doubled down on the pressure with a key over in which he took two crucial wickets. He removed debutant Musheer Khan for a duck and later dismissed Marcus Stoinis, who had added 28 runs, helping RCB restrict Punjab's total.
Bright Future Ahead
At just 23 years old, Suyash Sharma's rise is remarkable. From a modest IPL debut contract of Rs 20 lakhs with KKR to becoming the most expensive spinner in the latest auction, he is clearly seen as a future star in Indian cricket.
With his combination of skill, youth, and experience already in the IPL spotlight, the cricketing world will be watching closely as Suyash continues to develop and shine on bigger stages.
Suyash Sharma Net Worth
As of 2025, Suyash Sharma's estimated net worth stands at approximately $900,000 (around ₹7.7 crore). His growing reputation in cricket has significantly contributed to this figure, with the bulk of his income coming from IPL contracts, domestic cricket appearances, and potential brand endorsements.
