Virat Kohli Abused Players After Bengaluru Vs Lucknow IPL Match, Then Gautam Gambhir Intervened: Amit Mishra
After the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) named former cricketer Gautam Gambhir as Team India's new head coach, fans started recalling Gautam Gambhir vs Virat Kohli heated arguments and fights. Cricket fans on social media were divided in support of their favourite star during the IPL's one of the most heated moments.
Every cricket fan remembers when Indian ace batter and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli locked horns with Afghanistan's speedster representing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL. Later, then LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir jumped in support of his squad member and the fight eventually turned into Virat Kohli vs Gautam Gambhir.

Recently, during a podcast, former Indian cricketer and LSG spin master, Amit Mishra opened up about the incident and exact reason behind the most heated argument between the top two stars. Amit Mishra said, "It all started in Bengaluru where LSG won the game and Gambhir expressed his aggression. The public was going mad so Gautam gestured them to keep quiet. Probably Virat Kohli didn't like that. We thought the matter ended with the game but not for Kohli".
However, Gautam Gambhir's gesture of putting a finger and sealing mouth was not liked by Virat Kohli, according to Mishra, and when both sides met again Virat Kohli started to abuse LSG players. Mishra said that Virat could've avoided certain things but he chose not to.
"He started abusing our players (in the LSG vs RCB rematch in Lucknow). He didn't have any grudges with Kyle Myers but he abused him as well. Naveen-ul-Haq was bowling, he would abuse him too," Mishra said.
'Bohot cheezein avoid ho sakti thi but Virat Kohli ne nahi ki' (many things could have been avoided but Virat Kohli chose did not keep his cool), he added.
Amit Mishra further revealed that when he tried to intervene and calm down his Delhi mate, Virat Kohli said that instead of calming him, he should tell the same to Naveen.
"When I was batting with Naveen, I asked Kohli, 'Who are you even talking to He's just a youngster and not even close to your stature. Whatever happened has happened.' He answered back, saying, "You make him understand that, not me."
Mishra said that such heated things happened during the match, and they are understandable, but the real problem started after the match, when players were shaking hands and Virat continued to abuse. Only then, Gautam Gambhir intervened.
"But the problem began after the game. He (Kohli) started abusing him again during the customary handshakes. That's when Gambhir intervened, questioning why are you starting it again when the game has ended and you guys have won. I moved Gambhir away but Naveen later came to the dressing and said that Kohli started abusing again," he added.
