Vinod Kambli Health Update: Brother Virendra Kambli Says Ex-Cricketer Is Recovering, But Can't Speak Properly

Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, once hailed as one of the most promising batsmen of his era, is facing serious health challenges and financial difficulties. His younger brother, Virendra Kambli, has shared updates on his condition, confirming that Vinod is currently at home in Bandra but still struggling with speech problems and mobility issues.

Vinod Kambli's Health Update

Vinod Kambli was admitted to Akruti Hospital in Thane in December 2024 after suffering from severe cramps and a urinary infection. Although initial medical reports, including brain scans and urine tests, revealed no major complications, the 52-year-old continues to face slow recovery.

"He is at home right now. His treatment is on. He is having difficulty speaking, but I believe he will bounce back. He is a champion and will come back stronger. Hopefully, you will see him walking and running again," said his brother Virendra Kambli, expressing optimism.

Doctors have advised physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Vinod reportedly underwent a 10-day rehab program, but continues to struggle with slurred speech and requires continuous medical attention.

Family's Emotional Appeal

Virendra also made an appeal to fans and the public to extend their prayers and support for Vinod's recovery.
"He still slurs in his speech, but he is getting better. I just want to tell people to keep him in their prayers. He needs your love and support," he said.

Financial Struggles Add to Woes

Amidst health concerns, financial troubles have further worsened the situation. Earlier this year, Vinod's wife, Andrea Hewitt, revealed during a podcast that she had filed for divorce in 2023 but later withdrew it due to Vinod's deteriorating condition.

Andrea shared her emotional journey, saying:
"He will be helpless if I leave him. He is like a child, and that hurts me. I remember moments when I wanted to walk away, but then I worried - has he eaten, is he okay, is he lying on the bed properly? That's when I realized he needed me the most."

A Career of Highs and Lows

Vinod Kambli, once known for his explosive batting and memorable partnerships with childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar, had a promising international career cut short. Today, his battle off the field with health problems, financial struggles, and personal challenges has left cricket fans deeply concerned.
