Rohit Sharma To Continue As Team India ODI Captain For Champions Trophy 2025
Rohit Sharma is set to remain India's ODI captain, as confirmed by the BCCI's announcement that he will lead the press conference on January 18, during which the squads for the Champions Trophy and the ODI series against England will be revealed.
The three ODIs against England will be India's final fixtures in the format before their Champions Trophy campaign kicks off against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20.

Speculation around Rohit's future intensified after he opted out of India's XI in the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this month.
However, he clarified that his decision should not be misinterpreted as a retirement.
The 37-year-old has faced challenges with his form recently. During the home Test series against New Zealand, he admitted to captaincy mistakes that contributed to India's 3-0 defeat.
Across six innings against New Zealand, Rohit scored just 91 runs at an average of 15.16. His struggles continued in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where his average dipped further to 6.20 across five innings.
To regain his touch, Rohit joined Mumbai's training sessions ahead of the second phase of the Ranji Trophy.
Having concluded his T20I career by leading India to a T20 World Cup victory in Barbados last year, Rohit now has the opportunity to guide India to an ODI world title at the Champions Trophy.
India's league matches will all be played in Dubai, which will also host one of the semi-finals and potentially the final, should India progress that far.
Since November 19, 2023, when India lost the World Cup final to Australia in Ahmedabad, the team has played only six ODIs.
