RCB's First Reaction On Chinnaswamy Stadium Stampede
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first IPL title celebration turned tragic on Tuesday. The event, held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, attracted large crowds eager to see the team's victory parade and ceremony. Unfortunately, overcrowding and inadequate crowd control led to a stampede that resulted in 11 deaths and several injuries.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru expressed their sorrow over the incident. "We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team's arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe," they stated.

Public Safety Concerns
The team highlighted their dedication to public safety by modifying their plans based on advice from local authorities. This adjustment was crucial given the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedy, calling it "absolutely heartrending." He offered condolences to those who lost loved ones and wished for a quick recovery for those injured.
Calls for Improved Event Planning
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia also shared his distress about the incident. "It is very unfortunate. This is a negative side of popularity. People are crazy for their cricketers. The organisers should have planned it better. My deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. I wish early recovery of the injured," he told PTI.
Saikia emphasized the necessity for meticulous planning and safety protocols during large-scale events like this one. He noted that there were lapses in safety measures which contributed to this tragedy.
