Mumbai Wins Ranji Trophy 2024, Shreyas Iyer's Dance Video Goes Viral

The Ranji Trophy 2024 title was clinched by Mumbai on Thursday as they outclassed Vidarbha in the finals. Ajinkya Rahane-led side emerged victorious by 169 runs in domestic cricket's most prestigious league at the Wankhede Stadium.

With this win, Mumbai added the 42nd trophy to its kitty. Vidarbha captain Akshay Wadkar's century (102) and Harsh Dubey's half-century (65) in vain as visitors failed to chase the target of 538-run target set by the host, Mumbai.

Though Vidarbha was in a dominating position in the first session of the last day as the team resumed playing from 248/5, eventually Mumbai turned the tables around and bundled out Vidharbha for 368.

After the match, when Ajinkya Rahane lifted the cup, India star Shreyas Iyer started dancing on the ground to the beats of dhol, which was played to celebrate Mumbai's victory. The fans recorded Iyer's video and shared it on social media platforms.

Shreyas Iyer's dance videos are being widely circulated and comment sections are flooded with wishes and messages. However, a few cricket fans questioned Iyer about the pain in his back, due to which he opted out of international cricket and missed the recent test series against England.

According to the reports, Shreyas Iyer underwent back surgery and is still recovering. The pinch-hitter is also likely to miss a few matches of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) starting from February 22, 2024.

Sharing an update on Indian cricketer's health, a BCCI source told the media, "It is not looking good. It is the same back injury that has got aggravated. It is unlikely he will take the field on Day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the initial matches of the IPL".
