MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Spoiled My Son's Career: Sanju Samson's Father's Post Goes Viral

An old video of featuring Sanju Samson's father Samson Viswanath has created a buzz on the internet. In the video, he said leveled accusations against former India captain MS Dhoni, and senior players Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

Samson Viswanath claimed that big stars didn't let his son come up and they hindered his talent at the international level for almost a decade.

Sanju Samson recently became the first Indian to score consecutive centuries in T20Is. Despite this achievement, he struggled to secure consistent playing time until Rohit and Virat retired from T20Is earlier this year. His father expressed frustration over the missed opportunities during those years.

Support from Current Leadership

India's current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir have shown confidence in Samson. This support was evident when Samson scored back-to-back centuries against Bangladesh and South Africa. Suryakumar assured Samson of his role as an opener for the next seven T20Is, providing him with much-needed clarity and confidence.

"While playing in the Duleep Trophy, Surya came to me and said, 'You have the next seven matches. You'll be opening in these seven matches, and I'll back you no matter what.' For the first time in my career, I received such clarity, which gave me confidence," Samson shared about his conversation with Suryakumar.

Missed Opportunities

Despite being part of India's T20 World Cup-winning squad earlier this year, Samson didn't play any matches due to underwhelming performances in warm-up games. Consequently, he was not selected for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka under new head coach Gautam Gambhir's leadership.

Viswanath's allegations highlight a period when Sanju was overlooked despite decent averages: 28 in List A cricket, 35 in First-Class cricket, and 27 in IPL until 2020. These statistics suggest that there might have been potential for more opportunities during those years.

The video has sparked discussions among fans and analysts about the challenges faced by talented players like Sanju Samson. It raises questions about selection processes and the impact of leadership decisions on individual careers within Indian cricket.
