MS Dhoni Should Retire Now? Here's What Fans Said After RCB vs CSK IPL 2025 Match

MS Dhoni, a cricketer known for "magically" turning match situations with his explosive batting and strategies, faced criticism on social media after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced a defeat against arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday. Netizens discussed some wrong calls made by CSK skippers Ruturaj Gaikwad, and one of them was MS Dhoni coming out to bat at no. 9.

In a crucial chase, MS Dhoni promoted R Ashwin in the batting order when fans were expecting another magical inning from Thala, which might have rescued the team and avoided defeat.

MS Dhoni stepped in the field in 16th over of the match, when the situation was almost out of CSK's hands. Thala entertained the crowd with three rolling boundaries and two towering sixes to notch unbeaten 30 runs off 16 balls. His strike rate was above 187. However, all efforts went in vain because of the wrong batting order.

If MS Dhoni had come to bat in the 13th over after the fall of Shivam Dube's wicket, then the result of the CSK vs RCB match might have been different.

Along with criticising CSK, angry fans also suggested MS Dhoni to bid adieu to IPL gracefully.

Fans' Reactions On Social Media:

A user said, "Dhoni coming at no 9 is lowest point in his career. He should retire gracefully than this embarrassment."

"Dhoni is in IPL because he is a crowd puller, and organisers want to make more money by utilising his brand. He is playing as a tailender to prevent himself from exhaustion as he has to play more IPLs in the future. Wicket-keeping is also a difficult task; he should stay away from it," said another user.

"Maybe he has lost touch and confidence, he is very much bhism pitamah who is mutely watching the debacle of CSK rather than promoting him to top order. He should have been ready to soak pressure....true lowest point in MSD's career," one more user said.
