IPL 2025: KL Rahul To Join Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB); Kannadiga Star To Succeed Faf du Plessis

Media reports doing round the internet have claimed that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul is likely to join the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Earlier this season (IPL 2024), LSG boss Sanjiv Goenka openly criticised KL Rahul after their team faced consecutive defeats. However, later he apologised and called LSG captain for dinner at his residence and to give a message to Lucknow fans that everything is fine between them and KL Rahul will continue to lead the side. But now, it has been reported that KL Rahul will join Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Sources also reported that the Kannadiga star will succeed Faf du Plessis as the captain of the Bengaluru team (RCB) in IPL 2025.

KL Rahul scored 520 runs in 14 at a strike rate of 136.13. His best figure this IPL season was 82.

Though he was dropped from India's national side for the T20 World Cup 2024, which India won under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, but now, he is back in the team for India's tour to Sri Lanka, where men in blue are scheduled to play 3 T20i and 3 ODI matches. KL Rahul has been selected for the One Day format.

KL Rahul is a wicketkeeper-batsman, who usually opened the innings for LSG. Bengaluru-based star represented Karnataka in the domestic scene. He began his IPL career with RCB in 2013 but then moved to the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
