Is Kannada actor Doddanna dead or alive? A news doing rounds on internet has shocked fans.

However, the veteran Kannada actor himself has clarified that it is a fake news. Speaking to News First, he said, "Miscreants are spreading fake death news. I am healthy,"

It all started after a social media post which claimed that he passed away. Many people on internet started sending 'Om Shanti' and 'rest in peace' message.

The news spread like wildfire on social media and on WhatsApp groups. However, the 76-year-old actor's clarification has put the death hoax to rest.

"I am receiving non-stop calls from my friends, family members, well-wishers, enquiring about my health since morning. I am going to file a complaint with cyber police to ensure that the culprits are punished," he added.

Who Is Doddanna?

Doddanna, the revered veteran actor of Kannada cinema, stands as one of Sandalwood's most versatile character artists with an illustrious career spanning over four decades and approximately 800 films. Born on November 11, 1949, in Arasikere (also reported as Arsikere) in Hassan district, Karnataka, the 76-year-old actor belongs to the Lingayat community and was named after his grandfather, Kadle Doddappa.

Before entering the film industry, Doddanna honed his acting skills as a theatre artist, performing in stage plays that laid the foundation for his remarkable screen presence. He made his cinematic debut with the film "Koodi Balidare Swarga Sukha" in 1981-1982, marking the beginning of a journey that would see him work in supporting and villain roles across hundreds of movies.

Doddanna is best known for his impeccable comic timing and versatility in portraying diverse characters ranging from villains to policemen to comedic roles.
