The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipped KL Rahul will not continue with the team as LSG team management has decided to release him ahead of the IPL 2025. and KL Rahul, who led the side since IPL 2022 edition, will now go under the bidding process and it is expected that the Kannada star will make a return to his home side. If rumours are to be believed, then Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will bid high for KL Rahul as RCB is also on a hunt for a new captain this season as they have released Faf Du Plessis.
Lucknow Super Giants have decided to retain Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni, and Mohsin Khan. The team enters the auction with a budget of Rs. 69 crore.

Retention Strategy Explained
Sanjiv Goenka, owner of LSG, shared insights into their retention approach following the announcement. "It was a simple mindset to go in with players who have a mindset to win, who put the team before their personal goals and personal aspirations and we wanted to retain as much as of the core we could," he stated.
Goenka elaborated on the decision-making process for retentions. He mentioned that their first retention was an easy choice made in under two minutes. Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni were retained as uncapped players. This decision involved Zaheer Khan, Justin Langer, and an analyst.
Key Players Retained
Nicholas Pooran was retained for Rs 21 crore, making him one of the highest-paid players in this cycle. Goenka noted that retaining Pooran was an obvious decision for everyone involved. He also praised Ayush Badoni's performance at No.6 or No.7 positions.
The team retained three Indian bowlers from previous seasons. This strategic move aims to maintain a strong bowling lineup while focusing on players who prioritise team success over individual achievements.
