The incident happened during Mumbai's inning when Rohit Sharma got out and Hardik Pandya stepped onto the field. Virat Kohli was fielding near the boundary rope when fans started booing Hardik, which was not acceptable to Virat Kohli and he looked unhappy with fans' gesture for his fellow cricketer.

Notably, a section of Mumbai Indians fans has been unhappy since the team management replaced five-times IPL-winning captain Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya, who was brought to the side for a whopping Rs 15 crore trade from the Gujarat Titans. It was also reported that Hardik accepted the offer to join MI purportedly on the condition of donning the captain's hat.

MI had also faced backlash at that time and thousands of supporters had unfollowed Mumbai Indians on social media platforms.

Earlier also, fans booed Hardik Pandya when he came out in place of Rohit for the toss during MI's opening clash in the IPL 2024 against Gujarat Titans.

MI defeats RCB:

The Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have not delivered up to fans' expectations in IPL, so far. However, the MI vs RCB match was spectacular as Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav played heroics, resulting in Mumbai's dominating victory. MI chased a 197-run target in only 15.3 overs and with 7 wickets in hand.

For RCB, Faf Du Plessis (61), Rajat Patidar (50), and Dinesh Karthik (53) played superb innings, however, their bowlers failed to save the target.
