ICC Test Rankings: Virat Kohli Takes A Leapfrog To Enter Top 10, Check His Latest Position
Virat Kohli, the renowned Indian cricketer, has re-entered the top 10 of the ICC Test Rankings. His impressive performances against Bangladesh propelled him six places up to sixth position. Kohli's scores of 47 and an unbeaten 29 in Kanpur were instrumental in India's seven-wicket triumph, solidifying their lead in the World Test Championship standings.
During the match, Kohli achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs. He accomplished this feat in just 594 innings, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's previous record of 623 innings. Although he narrowly missed a half-century, his contribution was crucial for India.

ICC Test Rankings Update
India's victory over Bangladesh also bolstered their chances for a third consecutive appearance in the World Test Championship final. The win highlighted India's dominance with standout performances from players like Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal was named Player of the Match after scoring 72 and 51 across two innings, aiding India in overcoming rain-affected conditions.
Jaiswal's exceptional form has elevated him to third place in the latest ICC Test batter rankings. He now trails only England's Joe Root and New Zealand's Kane Williamson. Meanwhile, other international players have also made significant progress in the rankings.
Sri Lankan batsman Kamindu Mendis climbed five places to reach 11th after scoring a century against New Zealand. Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews from Sri Lanka also improved their positions, moving up to 20th and 23rd respectively. Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan advanced two spots to fifth among Test all-rounders.
Bowlers' Rankings Shifts
In bowling rankings, Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the No. 1 spot among ICC Test bowlers by surpassing Ravichandran Ashwin. Bumrah's six wickets against Bangladesh were pivotal for India's success, earning him a rating of 870 points. Ashwin remains close behind with just one point less than Bumrah.
Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan also saw improvements in their rankings. Mehidy moved up four places to 18th while Shakib climbed five spots to 28th in the updated standings.
The recent performances have not only enhanced individual rankings but have also strengthened team positions globally. As cricket enthusiasts eagerly follow these developments, players continue striving for excellence on this competitive stage.
