Bengali Model Hemoshree Bhadra Faces Backlash For Celebrating Australia's World Cup Win
Indian cricketer Travis Head played a significant role in Australia's sixth World Cup victory, shattering the dream of Indian captain Rohit Sharma's team and earning widespread praise on social media. However, an Indian Bengali model's public celebration of Australia's triumph has sparked outrage among some Indians, who have labeled her as a 'traitor'.
Hemoshree Bhadra, a self-proclaimed ardent fan of Travis Head, conducted a mock wedding with the Australian cricketer after the World Cup final. In a video shared on social media, Bhadra is seen adorning her forehead with vermilion, a traditional symbol of marriage in India. She also holds an image of Head in her hand and plays conch shells, seeking blessings for her imaginary union.

In the video, Bhadra expresses her admiration for Head, stating, "Placing vermilion in the name of Travis Head is as much a beautiful picture as thinking about this boy, my face turns redder. I wish this could be my husband."
Her actions have drawn fierce criticism from a section of Indian netizens, who have labeled her a 'traitor' and demanded her expulsion from the country. One social media user commented, "She's marrying someone who has defeated our country. She's not worthy of living in India." Another remarked, "Such people don't belong to anyone's family; they are traitors."
Bhadra has expressed her hurt and disappointment over the backlash, stating that she has always believed in the unifying power of sports. She also revealed that she has received death threats, causing her significant fear.
For the unversed, Hemoshree Bhadra is an author, model, actress, and YouTuber. She has previously held the title of 'Miss Kolkata' and boasts over 723,000 followers on her Instagram account.
