Asian Shooting Championship 2027: India Secures Hosting Rights for Rifle and Pistol Events

New Delhi is set to become the centre of Asian shooting in 2027, with India securing the hosting rights for the Asian Shooting Championship in rifle and pistol events - a tournament that will also serve as a crucial gateway to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) confirmed the development after receiving official communication from the Asian Shooting Confederation, which awarded the event to Delhi. The championship will offer eight Olympic quota places, significantly raising the competitive stakes.

In its letter to NRAI president Kalikesh Singh Deo, the Asian body congratulated India on winning the bid and expressed confidence in the country's ability to stage the event at the highest level. The communication underlined expectations of a smoothly run and successful championship.

While the capital has been locked in as the host city, the competition dates are yet to be finalised and will be announced in due course.

The decision brings a marquee continental event to India's doorstep, giving local shooters a valuable home advantage and promising fans a front-row view of Asia's best marksmen battling for Olympic qualification.
