Jharkhand govt in crisis as three JMM MLAs resign

Three JMM MLAs resign in Jharkhand
Ranchi, Jan 29: The Jharkhand government is currently facing a crisis as three MLAs of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) resigned from the Assembly on Tuesday.

It all began when the JMM leadership decided not to field Sudhir Mahato's widow, Savita Mahato for the Rajya Sabha biennial polls. Three MLAs Bidyut Baran Mahato, Mathura Prasad Mahato and Jagannath Mahato gave in their resignations to JMM Chief Shibu Soren.

Though the resignations have been sent, Soren is unlikely to accept them.

The MLAs said that they were hurt by the party's decision of not fielding Savita after her husband died just 12 days back. For the leaders it was through Savita that the legacy of Sudhir Mahato would continue.

However the JMM had earlier anounced that they would field her in the Rajya Sabha only to later on back on its own statement.
