BJP Secures Major Victory in Jharkhand Lok Sabha Polls, Eyes Assembly Elections

The JMM-led ruling alliance faced a major setback in the Lok Sabha polls in Jharkhand. Despite efforts, their sympathy card failed. The party highlighted the imprisonment of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren on scam charges. His wife, Kalpana Soren, led the campaign, but the India Block won only 5 out of 14 seats.

BJP and its allies secured nine seats, leaving the JMM-led alliance worried about the upcoming assembly polls. The BJP is optimistic about winning at least 41 out of 81 Vidhan Sabha seats in the October assembly elections. The Lok Sabha results have boosted their confidence.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP's election-in-charge in Jharkhand, stated that his party aims to form the next government by ousting the JMM-led "corrupt" alliance. He met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also played a key role in the assembly polls.

Chouhan said that BJP gained a lead over 52 out of 81 assembly segments in the Lok Sabha elections. He thanked party leaders, booth-level workers, and the people of Jharkhand for ensuring a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the Lok Sabha polls, BJP won eight seats while its ally AJSU won one seat. JMM secured three seats and Congress managed only two. The NDA received 47.22% of votes, while the India Block got 38.97%, showing BJP's clear dominance in both seats and vote share.

The BJP is making corruption a major issue in Jharkhand. While the JMM-led block accuses the BJP-led union government of misusing central agencies, corruption remains a key poll plank for BJP. The Lok Sabha results have strengthened this stance.

Chouhan emphasized that there is widespread corruption involving sand, coal, mines, and minerals in the state. He pointed out that several leaders have been arrested on corruption charges, including the Chief Minister.
