Raipur,July 27: Four Naxalites, including a woman carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head, surrendered in the insurgency-hit Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

The rebels turned themselves in before senior police officials, citing disappointment with the "empty" ideology of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and atrocities by senior cadres on them, Bijapur SP KL Dhruv said.

"Of the surrendered members, Jaimati Benjam (24), who was active as special platoon member, was a prominent cadre. She worked in South Bastar and Sonabeda (Odisha) for the banned outfit and was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head," the SP said.

Besides, Hemla Sonu (30), a militia commander in Gangaloor Area Committee of Maoist and Lalu Ram Kadti, the deputy head of student unit of Maoists, were also key cadres of the region, he said.
