Pune Crime: Bike-Borne Assailants Kill MNS's Ex-Corporator, Watch CCTV Footage

A former Pune Municipal Corporation corporator and NCP leader, Vanraj Andekar, was killed in an attack by a group of on bikes in Nana Peth. The incident occurred last night and appears to be due to personal enmity.

Visuals from CCTV footage reveal at least 12 men on six two-wheelers arriving at Vanraj Andekar's premises. They were armed with firearms and long-blade sickles. Mr Andekar was alone during the attack.

Pune Crime Branch Investigates

The Pune crime branch is currently investigating this high-profile murder. The attackers reportedly tampered with the power supply, turning off street lights in the area. This added to the chaos and confusion during the attack.

Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma stated, "Five rounds were fired at Vanraj Andekar. He was also attacked with long-blade sickles. He was brought dead to KEM Hospital. As per the primary information, Andekar suffered multiple sharp weapon injuries. Further details will be given in due course."

At one point in the CCTV footage, something appears to be thrown at the attackers but misses them. An adult with two children on a scooter narrowly escapes unharmed, as shown in the footage.

Mr Andekar was rushed to KEM Hospital with severe injuries but was declared dead upon arrival. The former corporator had served before the Pune civic body came under a state government-appointed administrator.

The attackers' actions were well-coordinated, indicating premeditation. The tampering with street lights suggests they planned to create an environment conducive to their attack.

This tragic event has left the community in shock and raised concerns about safety and security in the area. Authorities are working diligently to bring those responsible to justice.
