Noisy scenes in Pondy Assembly during presentation of budget

Puducherry, Aug 29: All the eight legislators of the opposition AINRC and also of the four member AIADMK block today protested against the Chief Minister V Narayanasamy presenting the budget.

As soon as Narayanasamy started his budget speech, the AINRC and AIADMK MLAs rushed to the podium of the Speaker with persistent protest that the Chief Minister had no right to present the budget.

Leader of the opposition AINRC N Rangasamy pointed out that the government had "unjustifiably retrenched" more than 4,000 workers from various department on the ground that they were engaged backdoor to the departments.

They also said that when Chief Minister himself had occupied the post without facing the polls, there should be no victimisation of the employees. The AIADMK legislators led by A Anbalagan took strong exception to the Chief Minister presenting the budget as all the details relating to the budget were already published in the newspapers today.

All the legislators staged a walk out and did not turn up for the remaining part of the days session.
