Uttarakhand CM Dhami Announces Renaming Of Places To Reflect Cultural Heritage
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the renaming of various places in the districts of Haridwar, Dehradun, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar. He stated that the decision aligns with public sentiment and aims to preserve Indian culture and heritage.
Speaking on the move, CM Dhami emphasized that the renaming initiative reflects the aspirations of the people and serves as a tribute to great personalities who have contributed to the preservation of Indian traditions.

As per the announcement, several places in Haridwar district will undergo name changes. Aurangzebpur will now be called Shivaji Nagar, Gajiwali will be renamed Arya Nagar, Chandpur will be known as Jyotiba Phule Nagar, and Mohammadpur Jat will be renamed Mohanpur Jat. Additionally, Khanpur Kursli will now be Ambedkar Nagar, Indrishpur will be renamed Nandpur, Khanpur will become Shri Krishna Pur, and Akbarpur Fazalpur will be called Vijayanagar.
In Dehradun district, Miyanwala will now be known as Ramji Wala, Pirwala will be renamed Kesari Nagar, Chandpur Khurd will be called Prithviraj Nagar, and Abdullah Nagar will now be known as Daksh Nagar.
In Nainital district, Nawabi Road is set to be renamed Atal Marg, while the road from Panchakki to ITI will now bear the name Guru Golwalkar Marg.
In Udham Singh Nagar, the municipal council of Sultanpur Patti will be renamed Kaushalya Puri.
This renaming initiative is part of the state government's efforts to uphold cultural identity and historical significance through place names, ensuring they resonate with India's rich heritage.
