LKG kid molested by seniors in school

Kozhikode (Ker), Nov 11: A four-and-a-half-year-old girl studying in LKG class of a private

has been allegedly molested by senior students of the same school at Parakkadav in the district, police said today.

According to police, the child was suspected to have been molested by two students of the high school section by luring her to the hostel room on October 30. A few days after the incident, the child started showing signs of pain and uneasiness and told her parents of the torture she underwent.

She was then taken to a hospital for medical examination and it was confirmed that she suffered sexual torture, police said. Police at Valayam has registered a case under IPC 376 (rape) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, based on a complaint from the mother of the child.

The culprits are yet to be identified, police said. Meanwhile, youth outfits of CPI(M) and BJP today conducted protest march to the school demanding action against the culprits.

SExual assault of young children has witnessed a recent spate in Bengaluru too where three minor kids-aged between 4 to 6-were raped in the school premises in three different instances. Parents here staged protests against the laxity of school safety from sexual predators, which may include teachers also.

The outrage forced the Chief Minister of Karnataka-Siddaramaiah to regulate school safety laws and take school authorities to task.
