Pune: Actors arrested in prostitution racket

Pune, Mar 5: A 23-year-old woman and her agent was arrested in a five star hotel by the Social Security Cell (SSC), city police on Saturday in Pune.

Reports reveal that both the arrested accused are aspiring actors and met during an audition in Mumbai. The police acting on a tip-off spun a plot to arrest the accused.

"Londhe (accused woman) is not well educated and hails from a lower middle class background and Panvar (agent) on the other hand has had a decent education and is financially well-to-do.

"They have booked under sections 4, 5 and 8 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) and were produced in court the on Sunday. While Londhe has been let off on bail, Panvar has been remanded to police custody till March 7," said Assistant Police Inspector, Ramdas Karpe, Shivajinagar police station, Pune.
