‘LPG Supply From the Back End Has Reduced’: Noida Eateries Say as Gas Crunch Hits Operations
Restaurants and small food outlets in Noida are beginning to feel the pinch of the ongoing gas supply disruption, with several owners warning that the situation could soon push smaller establishments to the brink of temporary closure.
At Brahmaputra Market in Sector 29, one of Noida's most vibrant food hubs known for its street food and popular eateries, restaurant owners say the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders has started affecting their daily operations.

Speaking to OneIndia, the owner of the well known "Balle Balle" food outlet said the problem is not pricing yet, but the availability of gas cylinders.
"The impact is definitely being felt. Right now we do not have enough gas supply. We are somehow managing with whatever little stock we have left," he said.
Commercial Gas Supply Disrupted
Restaurants like Balle Balle rely on commercial LPG cylinders, typically weighing around 18 to 19 kilograms, which are essential for high volume cooking throughout the day.
However, restaurant owners claim fresh supplies from distributors have slowed down significantly, forcing them to stretch whatever cylinders they currently have.
"Supply from the back end has reduced. Cylinders are not reaching us regularly," the owner said while showing the commercial blue LPG cylinder used in the kitchen.
Menus May Shrink if Crisis Continues
Although food prices have not been increased yet, restaurant operators say they may soon have to make difficult decisions if the supply crunch continues.
"For now, we have not increased prices and have not stopped making any items," the owner explained. "But if the situation continues like this, some outlets could reach the stage where they may have to temporarily shut down."
Brahmaputra Market typically sees heavy daily footfall, with crowds visiting throughout the week for affordable food options. Many small eateries depend on continuous cooking operations, making uninterrupted gas supply critical.
Double Impact on Small Food Businesses
Industry observers say smaller eateries and street food outlets are likely to be hit harder than upscale restaurants.
If supply disruptions persist, two possible impacts could emerge:
• Menu reductions, where restaurants stop offering items that require longer cooking time
• Price increases, as restaurant owners may have to source cylinders at higher rates from alternative channels
There are also concerns about hoarding and black marketing, which could worsen the situation if demand continues to outpace supply.
Government Monitoring Situation
Authorities are reportedly monitoring LPG distribution and have made adjustments to booking cycles to manage supply pressures. However, restaurant owners say the real challenge remains ensuring consistent cylinder deliveries to commercial establishments.
For now, eateries across Noida are continuing operations, but many admit they are running on limited gas stock and uncertainty about the next supply.
