22-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Months After Wedding In Greater Noida; Kins Allege Torture From Husband, In-Laws

A shocking case from Greater Noida has sparked outrage after a 22-year-old woman was found dead with burn injuries just three months after her marriage. The incident took place in the Dadri area, where the victim's family has accused her husband, in-laws and others of murdering her over a property dispute.

Police have arrested one person in connection with the case and launched a detailed investigation.

Victim Married Earlier This Year

The deceased has been identified as Monika Nagar. According to reports, Monika had entered into a court marriage with Anuj Chauhan on February 17 after the two were reportedly in a relationship.

Police said both families were aware of the marriage and had agreed to it.
Before marriage, Monika was reportedly living with her mother in a rented accommodation.

Body Found With Burn Injuries

According to police officials, Monika's body was later found with burn injuries under suspicious circumstances.

The postmortem examination could not determine the exact cause of death. As a result, viscera samples have been preserved for further forensic examination.

Police registered a case against Monika's husband Anuj, neighbour Kannu and several others based on allegations made by the victim's family.

Neighbour Arrested During Investigation

Jitendra Kumar Singh, Station House Officer of Dadri police station, said that neighbour Kannu was arrested during the investigation. According to police findings, Kannu allegedly went to an isolated plot where Anuj was reportedly trying to burn Monika's body.
Investigators are now examining the exact sequence of events leading to the woman's death and whether there was an attempt to destroy evidence.

Family Alleges Assault And Murder

Monika's family has alleged that she was regularly assaulted by her husband and in-laws after marriage. Police said Monika had informed her brother earlier that she was being physically attacked at her matrimonial home.

After receiving information about the assault, her family rushed to the location and later alleged that she had already been killed. The allegations have intensified suspicions around the circumstances of her death.

Mother Recounts Disturbing Incident

Monika's mother, Renu Nagar, claimed she received a distress call from her daughter on May 7 while she was in Meerut. According to her, Monika told her over the phone that her husband and in-laws were assaulting her.

Renu Nagar alleged that when family members reached the area, they saw Anuj, his relatives and neighbour Kannu placing Monika's body inside a black Fortuner vehicle.
She further claimed that the family chased the vehicle and tried to stop it near Galaxy Hospital in Dadri, but the accused allegedly attempted to run over her and her nephew before fleeing.

Later that night, police informed the family that Monika's body had been recovered with burn injuries.

Investigation Continues

Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests may follow depending on evidence collected during questioning and forensic analysis.
Authorities are also waiting for the viscera examination report, which is expected to help determine the exact cause of death.

The case has triggered strong reactions locally, with many demanding strict action against those found responsible. The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over crimes against women, domestic violence and disputes within marriages in parts of the country.
