Priyanka Gandhi slams Oppn, says her husband was used politically

on Tuesday hit out at BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi while campaigning here for party chief Sonia Gandhi, her mother. Speaking to a crowd from a narrow distance, the 42-year-old leader said the opposition has been attacking her family for two years now and that her husband has been used for political purpose.

"I take this attack very strongly," Priyanka said. She added that she has to raise her children amid all these attacks and feel sad but warned the opposition that she should fight it with all determination. "This is something I had learned from my grandmother Indira Gandhi," she said.

Priyanka Gandhi, who is playing an active role this election, said the Congressis in favour of a country where communal harmony prevails and thanked the people of Rae Bareli for backing the Congress all these years. She said this election is witnessing a tough time. People are using foul languages and instead of focussing on people's needs, they are misleading voters. "India is a land of harmony but people are making the atmosphere poisonous," she said.

Priyanka Gandhi has been making strong remarks while campaigning both for her brother Rahul Gandhi and mother in Amethi and Rae Bareli, respectively. Recently, she criticised her cousin brother Varun Gandhi, a BJP MP, accusing him of choosing a wrong path in life.

BJP candidate Meenakshi Lekhi said in a reaction to Priyanka Gandhi's words: "It is natural that as the wife of Robert Vadra, she is feeling sad. But so are the people of this country."
