Narendra Modi, other leaders pay tribute to Nehru on 50th death anniversary

Modi pays tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru
New Delhi, May 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary.

Soon after assuming office, Modi tweeted to pay respects to Nehru. "I pay my tributes to our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 'punya tithi," Modi tweeted on Nehru's 50th death anniversary.

Along with Modi, several other leaders like President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes to the departed leader at Shanti Van, his memorial on the banks of Yamuna here.

Former Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Planning, Rajeev Shukla, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh Lovely and Congress leader Haroon Yusuf were among those who paid tributes to the leader.
