Here is a look at the high points of Modi's visit to each of the four eastern coastal nations bordering the Indian Ocean. We will begin with Mozambique where he visited first and will gradually upgrade:

MOZAMBIQUE (July 7): PM Modi and Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi saw the two sides signing agreements in fields of drug trafficking, pulse trading and sports. Three memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed on reduction of drug trafficking and psychotropic substances and related materials, cooperation in sports and youth affairs and long-term agreement for buying pulses---were signed between Amar Sinha, secretary of Economic Relations in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Mozamican foreign minister.
On Tuesday, the Centre had given the nod for the signing of an MoU between India and Mozambique on reduction of drug demand and prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotics.
The MoU also aims at improving mutual cooperation between the two countries in tackling illicit trafficking in narcotics, psychotropic substances through exchaning information, expertise and capacity-building.
SOUTH AFRICA (JULY 8-9): Top business leaders from India and South Africa on Friday signed eight memoranda of understanding (MoU), leading to increased cooperation in several areas.
The MoU were signed at the South Africa-India CEOs Forum held on the sidelines of Modi's maiden visit here and they aimed at bolstering cooperation on economic, political, social and international areas.
South Africa also relaxed its visa restrictions for Indian travellers, making it easier for them to travel to the country which is known for its tourism industry.
Modi also commemorated Mahatma Gandhi who had his stint in South Africa earlier in his career. The PM took a train ride between Pentrich and Pietermaritzburg in memory of the Mahatma who had been thrown out of a train compartment because of his non-white skin colour.
TANZANIA (JULY 10): India and Tanzania signed five agreements on Sunday (July 10), including one for providing a Line of Credit of $92 million in the field of water resources.
PM Modi said India is a trusted partner in catering to Tanzania's development needs and agreed with Tanzian President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli to deepen overall defence and security partnership.
"Our in-depth discussions on regional and global issues reflected our considerable convergence on issues of common interest and concern," he said at a joint press interaction after meeting President Magufuli.
The two countries also agreed to work closely, bilaterally, regionally and globally to combat the threats of terrorism and climate change.
