Delhi Weather Update: Showers Ease Heat, AQI Shifts To 'Moderate' Category

Parts of Delhi experienced rain and strong gusts on Friday night, providing much-needed relief from the oppressive heat. Delhi is anticipated to see partly overcast sky on Saturday, with light rain and thunderstorms predicted for the evening, according to the IMD. It is predicted that the wind will blow between 40 and 50 km/h, with gusts as high as 60 km/h. It is anticipated that the minimum temperature will be about 26°C and the high will likely stay around 41°C.

In terms of the remainder of the week, Sunday is predicted to offer partly overcast conditions devoid of precipitation. No heatwave warnings have been issued for the nation's capital during the IMD's forecast of clear skies until April 24.

Forecast for the Weather in Other Areas

Over the next five days, light to moderate rain is predicted to persist throughout eastern and northeastern India along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusts. Similar weather is predicted for the next seven days in Kerala and Mahe in the south, where showers and thunderstorms are likely. Rainfall may be localized to dispersed in other regions of southern India.

Delhi Air Quality Report

On Saturday morning, Delhi's air quality improved considerably, moving from the "poor" to the "moderate" category. At 8 a.m. on April 19, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 166, which was lower than the 201 recorded at the same time the day before.

The Delhi-NCR area's AQI readings also improved. On April 17, Delhi's 24-hour average AQI was 219; however, by Saturday, numerous locations had readings in the "moderate" or "satisfactory" range. The AQIs of Noida and Greater Noida were 165 and 170, respectively, while Gurugram's was 175. Ghaziabad had an AQI of 189, which is all in the "moderate" range.
