Delhi Weather Alert: Hot And Dry Week Ahead, IMD Predicts Heatwave Conditions

People in Delhi should get ready for very hot days ahead. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that a strong heatwave is expected to hit Northwest India soon, including Delhi. The temperature in the city may reach 41 degrees Celsius on Monday, April 7.

Delhi Weather Forecast

The weather will stay mostly clear at the beginning of the week. On April 8, the temperature is expected to remain the same at 41 degrees Celsius. A slight drop is likely after that, with 40 degrees Celsius on April 9 and 39 degrees Celsius on April 10. By 11 and 12 April, the maximum temperature may come down to 38 degrees Celsius. The sky will be partly cloudy from April 10 to 11, but it will clear up again by April 12.

Even though temperatures will slowly go down later in the week, it will still feel quite hot. The IMD has advised people to be careful during this time. It is best to stay indoors during the afternoon, drink water often, and avoid going out in the sun unless necessary.

At the same time, Delhi's air quality has shown some improvement. On Sunday morning, April 6, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 194 at 8 am. This is in the 'moderate' range, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). On Saturday, the 24-hour average AQI at 4 pm was 163.

Although the air is not very unhealthy, people with breathing problems should still be cautious. With high temperatures and moderate air quality, residents are advised to take care of their health, stay cool, and avoid long periods outdoors.
