Delhi Elections 2025: Police Seizes Rs 1.5 Crore Cash, Liquor, Arrests Bootleggers
In a major pre-election crackdown, the North-West District Police have intensified their operations against illicit liquor, drug peddling, unaccounted cash, and public drinking to ensure strict compliance with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) set by the Election Commission of India (ECI) ahead of the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections.
Delhi Polls 2025
During a series of targeted picket checks, authorities apprehended six individuals and seized unaccounted cash amounting to ₹1.5 crore from three different locations. The successful operation was a result of coordinated efforts between the Local Police and Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs), acting on credible intelligence inputs.

In another significant raid, six bootleggers were arrested, and 1,862 quarters along with five bottles of illicit liquor were confiscated. The police also seized a vehicle used to smuggle the liquor from neighboring states, aiming to prevent its illegal distribution ahead of the polls.
Crackdown On Drugs
The crackdown extended to drug-related offenses, leading to the arrest of four drug peddlers and users. The operation resulted in the recovery of 4.65 grams of smack and 804 grams of ganja, further strengthening efforts to curb narcotics-related activities in the region.
Additionally, law enforcement launched an operation to tackle public drinking, booking 20 individuals under Section 40A of the Excise Act and 33 others under Section 40B.
Stepping up their efforts to curb illegal arms possession, police recovered 10 knives and arrested 10 individuals in connection with the offenses.
The intensified security measures reflect a broader strategy to maintain law and order, prevent electoral malpractices, and ensure a free and fair election process in Delhi.
