This was discussed during a meeting on Monday about the election manifesto preparation.

Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

The Delhi Legislative Assembly elections are set to occur by February 2025. The last elections were in February 2020, resulting in the Aam Aadmi Party forming the government with Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister for a third term. The current assembly's term ends on 15 February 2025.

In an earlier announcement, Congress revealed its initial list of 21 candidates for the Delhi Assembly Election. Among them is Sandeep Dikshit, son of former CM Sheila Dikshit, who will contest from New Delhi. This constituency is currently represented by AAP's national convenor and former CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Notably, Kejriwal defeated Sheila Dikshit in New Delhi in 2013 to become Chief Minister for the first time. The Congress has also nominated Devender Yadav from Badli, Haroon Yusuf from Ballimaran, Abhishek Dutt from Kasturba Nagar, Adarsh Shastri from Dwarka, and Mudit Agarwal from Chandni Chowk.

Former AAP MLAs Join Congress

On Monday, former AAP MLAs Asif Ahmad Khan and Devinder Sehrawat joined Congress. Yadav commented that since Arvind Kejriwal became Delhi's Chief Minister, Congress has maintained that BJP and AAP mislead citizens with false promises.

Congress aims to challenge these narratives by presenting realistic commitments in its manifesto. The party hopes to regain influence in the capital by addressing key issues affecting residents.

With strategic candidate selections and proposed policies like financial support for women and free electricity units, Congress seeks to strengthen its position ahead of the elections.
