Delhi BJP Leader Sparks Row With Sexist Remark On Priyanka Gandhi: 'Will Make Roads As Smooth As Her Cheeks'
Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP's MLA candidate from Kalkaji, found himself at the centre of controversy on Sunday after stating he would make the roads in his constituency "as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks" if elected.
Speaking to India Today, Bidhuri acknowledged making the remarks and defended them by referencing a similar comment made by Lalu Prasad Yadav, who had once said he would make Bihar's roads "as smooth as Hema Malini's cheeks."

Bidhuri elaborated, "If today they (Congress) feel pained by the statement, then what about Hema ji? She has been a renowned heroine and has brought glory to India through films. If Lalu's statements are wrong, then my statement will also be wrong."
Responding to the Congress' accusations of sexism, Bidhuri further said, "Isn't Hema Malini a woman? Hema Malini is far superior to Priyanka Gandhi when it comes to achievements in life."
