Congress hits out at BJP, Modi
New Delhi, Feb 3: Sharpening its attack on BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress on Monday slammed Modi for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) revised definition.

Ajay Maken, General Secretary, AICC, on Monday said that 'Gujarat government's revised defition of BPL is a mockery of the poor.'

Maken said: "Gujarat government has released the figures that those in villages with an income of Rs 10.80 per day are not poor. I want to ask Mr Modi now what is this." Maken went on to add that the Gujarat Government and Modi must apologise to the citizens of Gujarat and also the poor.

Maken added that after the Food Security Act, there is no identification of BPL.

"BPL idea should not be adopted for civil supplies. State Government is free they should adopt criteria under food act," he said.
