SPI confers CSR award on 'Little Sisters of the Poor' in Mysuru
Mysuru, Jan 8: SPI conferred the K K Mookerji CSR award on Little Sisters of the Poor on the occasion of the company's 20th anniversary celebrations in Mysore recently.
The K K Mookerji CSR award was instituted last year in the memory of SPI's Founding Managing Director. This Annual Award that carries an amount of Rs 1 lakh and a citation is presented to a worthy NGO every year.

The award for 2015 was presented to Mother - Gemme by Sid Mookerji, CEO and Sophie Mookerji, Chairperson, SPI at the company's campus in Hebbal.
Little Sisters of the Poor is a non-profit organization managing a Home for the Aged at Mysore. This is a charitable institution that receives aged men and women, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, who are really in need of shelter, care and concern.
"The K K Mookerji CSR award is bestowed on Little Sisters of the Poor, recognizing its initiatives and its large impact on the senior citizens of the society that it is serving. The Home doesn't have any regular source of income, and depends upon donations. SPI is passionate about Corporate Social Responsibility. By instituting this award, we want to encourage and recognize those NGOs which actively contribute towards the overall social development of our society," said Sophie Mookerji, who also heads SPI Foundation.
SPI Foundation is the philanthropic arm of SPI. Since its inception in 2007, the Foundation has been involved in charitable activities in the field of education, health, environment and care of the elderly.
The children of SPI's adopted school, the school for deaf and dumb children in Tilaknagar and the Parents' Association of Deaf children gave a colourful performance to the two thousand plus audience that included employees and their families. Mrs C Shikha, Deputy Commissioner of Mysore watched the performance of the children.
The well-known playback singer Benny Dayal and Shakthisree Gopalan, an upcoming singer performed to commemorate the company's 20th anniversary celebrations. SPI's senior executives were present during the event.
