Mysuru observes 1st death anniversary of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar

Mysuru, Dec 2: Mysuru Palace, on Dec 1, Monday, witnessed the ceremony of the first death anniversary of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.

The royal family also organised a public feast along with performing rituals, to mark the death anniversary of Wadiyar. Pramoda Devi, wife of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, offerred floral tributes to a portrait of Wadiyar as part of the rituals associated with his first death anniverary underway at the Mysuru Palace premises.

Home Minister K.J. George, former Indian cricketer Brijesh Patel and a host of prominent personalities attended the programme at the Palace premises.

Wadiyar passed away in Bengaluru on December 10, 2013, and the royal family began the rituals associated with the death anniversary on Saturday per the Hindu calendar.

Wadiyar's nephew Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs performed the death anniversary rituals as per the traditions of the royal family.

Meanwhile, Madhuvana, the cemetery of the royal family, has also been spruced up. Sources in the royal family said Pramoda Devi Wadiyar had constructed a tomb where the mortal remains of her husband had been interred in Madhuvana.
