The arrival of the southwest monsoon in Mumbai has brought with it a week of persistent heavy rainfall across Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for several districts as weather systems converge over the region, signalling potential disruptions.

In Mumbai and its neighbouring districts, a yellow alert has been issued due to anticipated intense rainfall in the coming days, prompting residents to be cautious and prepared.

According to IMD forecasts, Mumbai is expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall, along with gusty winds blowing at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometres per hour.

From June 24 to June 29, Mumbai will see consistently cloudy skies and frequent heavy rainfall. Temperatures will fluctuate between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius. June 28 and 29 are likely to witness rain showers persisting throughout the day, indicating a wet and humid week ahead for the city.

In response to the monsoon's onset, renowned businessperson Anand Mahindra took to social media to share a video on X, formerly known as Twitter demonstrating an innovative method to stay dry during the rain. Known for his engaging online presence, Mahindra also commented on Mumbai's recent showers, expressing his anticipation for heavier rains and suggesting practical tips to cope with the weather.

"Finally, we're seeing some consistent rain in Mumbai this monsoon. Not heavy enough for our liking, but it's probably time to plan our 'wardrobe for wetness.' May be a good idea to think about a 'wearable' umbrella. Clever," he wrote in the caption," he captioned the video.
