Saif Ali Khan Attacked: What Happened That Night? Kareena Kapoor's Staff Recounts Chilling Intruder Incident

In the early hours of Thursday, an armed intruder broke into actor Saif Ali Khan's Bandra residence and targeted the room of his youngest son, Jehangir (4). The assailant, wielding a stick and a blade, was first spotted by house help Eliyama Philip, who tried to intervene to protect the child. Despite her efforts, the intruder attacked her, leaving her injured.

The commotion drew Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor to the scene. During a scuffle, Saif sustained multiple injuries, including a serious wound to his spine caused by the assailant's knife. Nanny Geeta, who also tried to assist, was injured in the attack. The family and staff managed to escape and secure the room, but the intruder fled before authorities arrived.

Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital reported that Saif underwent surgery to address a spinal fluid leak and deep wounds. He is now stable and recovering.

The police have registered a case for robbery, trespassing, and grievous injury, but the suspect, described as a slim man in his 30s, remains at large. Questions have been raised about the building's security, prompting criticism of the Maharashtra government. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the incident "unfortunate" but rejected claims that Mumbai is unsafe

What happened on that night?

Philip recounted his experience to the authorities as reported by India Today:

• On January 15, around 11 PM, I had just fed and tucked in Saif Ali Khan's youngest child, Jehangir, also known as Jaybaba, who is four years old. After that, my colleague and I prepared to sleep for the night.

• At about 2 AM, I was awakened by some sounds and sat up. I saw that the bathroom door was ajar with the light on, and I assumed Kareena Ma'am had come to check on Jeh. Although I initially thought nothing of it and tried to go back to sleep, a feeling of discomfort lingered.

• When I leaned over to see who was in the bathroom, an individual stepped out and moved towards Jeh's bed. Alarmed, I rushed over to him. The intruder then signaled for silence, saying "koi aawaz nahi" (don't make any noise).

• At that moment, Junu, Jeh's nanny, also woke up. The intruder cautioned her to remain quiet while brandishing a stick in one hand and a long, thin blade-like object in the other.

• In my effort to shield Jeh, I intervened, but the assailant attacked me with the blade, injuring both of my hands. I asked him what he wanted and how much money he was after. He replied with a demand for "Rs 1 crore".

• Hearing the commotion, Kareena rushed into the room. Saif confronted the intruder by asking who he was and what he wanted. The assailant then struck Saif with both the stick and the blade.

• Geeta, another nurse who entered the scene, was also assaulted by the intruder. We managed to escape from the room and locked the door behind us before fleeing upstairs.

• The loud disturbances roused other staff members in the house, prompting us all to head back downstairs. However, when we returned to the room, the intruder had vanished without a trace.
